Matthias Hülsheger is a managing director in the furniture industry: he has managed a team of around 50 employees for many years. He recently completed a ‘Coaching’ certificate course at the ISM Academy. Shortly before celebrating with the rest of his colleagues, we had the opportunity to talk to him about tips for newcomers to working life:

‘The first step when I join a new team is to notice what's going on, what the circumstances are like, before I actively get started with suggestions or new ideas. So first of all: arrive, look around, get to know the situation. This timing is important. Otherwise, I may even weaken my position because I haven't followed this basic rule.’
