We are now well past the halfway point of the year and from September onwards, retailers are already getting us in the mood for the coming Christmas season with gingerbread, cinnamon stars and dominoes. So today we would like to look back with you on the most important developments and events in Alumni Management in the first half of 2024.

Since May 2024, the alumni team has been supported by Paulina Glinka. She is now your main contact and takes care of all communication - from news on our platform to social media. Many of you may remember Paulina from her time as a student at ISM.

In spring, we once again carried out a retention analysis of our alumni. Graduates from the years 1994 to 2023 were surveyed, regardless of whether they studied full-time, dual or part-time.

Here are the highlights from the surveys:

Full-time graduates:

  • The recommendation rate is 88.8%.
  • 89.4% believe that the course prepared them well for their career.
  • 21 % have continued their studies.
  • You found the semester abroad, the internship and the curriculum particularly helpful.

Dual & part-time:

  • The recommendation rate is 90.0%
  • 80.0 % feel well prepared for their career.
  • 95% confirmed the compatibility of studying and working.
  • The curriculum, the semester abroad and personal friendships were particularly helpful.

Our ISM Stammtische once again brought many alumni together in April. From mini golf in Munich to pizza in Hamburg - there was something for everyone!

The first Family Business Symposium took place on the Munich campus at the end of April. It was all about family businesses and their future. The experts explored the following questions: What measures are needed to retain the wealth built up in the first generation? What role do values play in this? And what should entrepreneurs consider if they want to sell part or all of their company? You can find out more on our press page.

The ISM summer parties were also a highlight, where the entire ISM family - students, lecturers, employees and alumni - were able to celebrate together. Many alumni took the opportunity to refresh old contacts and make new ones.

In the second half of the year, we want to further increase our visibility on social media. To this end, existing formats will be expanded and new ideas implemented together with you, e.g:

  • Spotlight: The Alumni Spotlight will once again be presented on Instagram and now also on LinkedIn. Have you already rediscovered yourselves?
  • Alumni/lecturer portraits: Lecturers who are alumni themselves are presented in a profile.
  • Interviews: Short interviews for Instagram and TikTok provide insights into your time at ISM and your current jobs.
  • Expansion of alumni multipliers: We want to strengthen regional alumni networks by establishing alumni multipliers at the locations who organize local meetings and events.

If you would like to take part in these activities, please contact us at the following e-mail address: alumni@ism.de

We look forward to a successful second half of the year with lots of exciting projects and events!

Best regards,
Sandra, Paulina and Dirk
