Aminata is the epitome of independence, courage and vision. After completing her bachelor's degree in business psychology at ISM, she has forged her own path not only professionally but also personally - and that's what makes her story so special.

‘Only those who go their own way cannot be overtaken,’ she quotes Marlon Brando when summarising her time at ISM and the start of her professional journey. It was clear to Aminata early on that she didn't want to choose the traditional path, but rather create something that really suited her. That's why she deliberately chose the Business Psychology degree programme - a fresh combination of business and psychology that gave her the perspective to understand people and systems in equal measure.

Her own fashion brand at 23

Aminata founded her own fashion label Jannet Elegant Wear at the age of just 23 - a decision that required not only courage but also strategic thinking. At the same time, she is currently studying for a Master's degree in Business Psychology, specialising in Coaching & Change, and works as a working student in Internal Services & Sales.

‘My everyday life is full, varied and sometimes challenging - but I love every single facet of it.’ This passion runs like a common thread through Aminata's CV. Her film title for the current phase of her life? ‘Living my dream’.

Learning, growing, connecting - even beyond the campus

The international orientation of ISM was also particularly formative for Aminata. During her semesters abroad, she met people from all over the world who are still with her today - both as friends and professionally. This time broadened her horizons and showed her that learning doesn't just take place in the lecture theatre, but wherever openness, curiosity and exchange come together.

Practical, personal, formative

What does she take with her from her studies at ISM to this day? Above all, the practical thinking, the ability to recognise complex interrelationships and to act in a solution-oriented manner. Especially in her self-employment, she benefits from the entrepreneurial mindset that was encouraged at ISM from the very beginning.

Soft skills such as presenting, networking and intercultural communication have also helped Aminata to grow not only professionally but also personally.

Favourite courses and running gags

If she could return to one course at ISM, it would undoubtedly be the business psychology courses - especially those that deal with motivation and change. ‘I truly believe that we can only change the economy sustainably if we understand people in depth.’

And of course, there are also some insider tips: In a consulting course, she and two fellow students were affectionately known as the ‘Ladies of the Lake’ - why exactly is still a mystery to this day. But it is precisely these memories that make her student days so special.

Conclusion: it's your own path that counts

Aminata shows that success has many faces - and that it is worth going your own way, even if it is not always straightforward. For her, ISM was a springboard, toolbox and source of inspiration all in one.

We are proud to have her as part of our alumni community - and are excited to see where her path will take her.
